Safe, Respectful, Equitable Jewish Workplace Facilitation Support

from $36.00

The Jewish community has been grappling with the growing recognition that workplace sexual harassment is a real issue in our organizations and institutions, and it's far past time for us to deal with it. This movement of people calling for change in the Jewish Community have been brought together underneath the banner of #GamAni - a Jewish #MeToo.

One of the initiatives that has emerged over the last year is B'Kavod, an effort to provide high-quality, effective training for Jewish organizations on how to create equitable, harassment-free, safe, and respectful work environments.

In October, B’Kavod will be certifying its second cohort of Safe & Respectful Jewish Workplace Trainers, under the leadership and guidance of Fran Sepler, designer of the EEOC Safe Respectful Workplace program, and one of the nation's leading experts on combating gender inequity & sexual harassment in the workplace. (You can learn more about Fran's approach on her website, and this video gives a good glimpse of how her strategies are turning what we thought we knew about sexual harassment prevention on its head.)

My participation in this training will ensure that Boston has a community-based trainer to support local Jewish institutions in their work to ensure safe, respectful, equitable workplaces.

I’ve learned quite a few lessons over a decade of work to create lasting organizational and cultural change and end sexism, abuse, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, racism, and all forms of structural oppression. One of the most indelible of those lessons is the knowledge that no single person can create transformative cultural change alone, and that for this work to be effective, we need to be in it together. So, I’m asking for your help.

Your support of me in this work will:
- Subsidize the cost of the certification course ($1400), travel to New York ($200), licensing costs to deliver Fran Sepler’s curriculum and share her wisdom with our community ($750 + $125 per organization trained), and discounted facilitation and training for local organizations ($750 per organization).
- Demonstrate the hunger and need for transformative cultural change within our communities, combatting the implicit and explicit messages that this work is trivial or unimportant.
- Provide the all important wind at my back, reminding me I’m not alone in this work, even in the moments when the hurdles feel enormous and the isolation is acute.

Note: this is not a tax-deductible donation, this is an investment in me, and in our community doing - and being - better for everyone within it.
