Impact

Joanna is an extraordinary, confident and experienced teacher and facilitator. She has that rare ability to translate paradigm shifting concepts that can challenge people’s experience of the world into understandable ideas. More than that, she combines her lucid teaching and leadership with an open heart that enables people to feel comfortable asking difficult questions even when they feel ignorant or confused. Joanna’s teaching and being are a model for those of us who have had the good fortune to learn from and with her.

- Rabbi Daniel Klein, Hebrew College Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Life

Joanna executed this complex consultation with skill and compassion, building authentic relationships with each of the many stakeholders, listening to their perspectives, and offering guidance with respect and authority. Navigating numerous interests and concerns, she was able to gain the trust of all of the players involved, including school leaders, school support staff, teachers, parents, and the student himself. Ultimately, Joanna orchestrated a multi-faceted intervention that included individual meetings, training for staff, and a program for students that featured the transgender student sharing his perspective with his peers.

- Catherine Bell, Keshet Senior Director of Program and Leadership

Joanna is my expert on all things inclusion - her invaluable insights always broaden my understanding, and her articulation of those views which often are forgotten or underrepresented help me gain perspective.

Joanna teaches thoughtfully, taking into account all who may be in the room. She listens carefully, often hearing both what is said and what is unspoken. I am honored to call her a teacher.
